Why take this PAT Testing course?

Is this PAT course right for me?

PAT testing is a skill that can be learned by almost anyone (over the age of 18) such as office maintenance staff or landlords. Some basic electrical knowledge is useful but not essential. In a commercial environment, regulations insist that every item of electrical equipment is tested and certified as being safe to use. For electrical contractors, this can be seen as a potentially lucrative new service to add - and one that is required by industry at all levels.

This course enables you to undertake PAT testing training and manage the testing process.

For this course option, you will take the City & Guilds 2377-22 Operators Registration and Examination.

Every item of electrical equipment in a commercial environment is required to be PAT tested, that is it has been tested as being safe to use and has been marked safe, whether it be a kettle, toaster or computer.

This practicals cover everything necessary to successfully achieve the City and Guilds certification.

The course includes both a theory element and practical elements. We take you through the practical disciplines and formal recording processes, as well as preparing you for the online City and Guilds 2377 test.

What’s In the Course?

PAT testing includes a mix of classroom-based theory work plus practical experience of using PAT testers to test portable appliances for safety.

The course aims to develop your understanding of what PAT testing is, the importance of it, the requirements placed upon you as a business/contractor and other associated factors. It also covers the IET Code of Practice (the industry-standard regulation book for PAT testing), basic electrical theory and will give you plenty of hands on time with several PAT testers.

Upon completion of the content you’ll take a multiple-choice, open-book examination. If you pass this exam, you’ll receive your Certificate of Competency in PAT testing and be able to PAT test safely.
