You don’t have to be an electrician to do a Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) course

Absolutely anyone can PAT test. There’s no electrical background required; provided you can prove that you have a recognised certificate which states you can test electrical appliances for safety, you’re eligible to carry out PAT testing yourself.

At GB Construction Training, we’re able to help professionals from all over the country to gain the PAT testing qualification they need.

City & Guilds 2377-22 & 32 PAT Testing Courses (Home Study Course & Practical)

This course option includes both the City & Guilds 2377-22 Operators Registration and Examination and the City & Guilds 2377-32 Management Qualification. If you are looking to undertake only the Operators Registration &Examination 2377-22 you should click/book here.

What’s In the Course?

Taking place over a single day, PAT testing includes a mix of classroom-based theory work plus practical experience of using PAT testers to test portable appliances for safety. The course aims to develop your understanding of what PAT testing is, the importance of it, the requirements placed upon you as a business/contractor and other associated factors. It also covers the IET Code of Practice (the industry-standard regulation book for PAT testing), basic electrical theory and will give you plenty of hands on time with several PAT testers.

Upon completion of the content you’ll take a multiple-choice, open-book examination. If you pass this exam, you’ll receive your Certificate of Competency in PAT testing and be able to PAT test safely.
